Food Diplomacy Program: A Recipe for Entrepreneurship, 20-21-22 May, 2019, American Center & JW Marriott, Kolkata

Sponsored by U.S. State Department and American Center, Kolkata

ABOUT

The Indo-American Center (IAC) spearheads the Food Diplomacy Program in collaboration with The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate in Kolkata (PAS Kolkata). This is a cultural effort to bring nations closer and bond over food. The Food Diplomacy Program is governed by 3 objectives:

  1. To strengthen the regional network of food business entrepreneurs and harness the economic power of food
  2. To promote U.S. food imports available to the South Asian market
  3. To strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India through exchange of information, experiences and expertise

For the FDP, two distinguished U.S. experts are the trainers. They bring with them years of hands-on experience and interesting inputs to enhance conversations and encourage food diplomacy efforts. Also, IAC will select 20-30 top food business executives from across East India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as participants for FDP. These are professionals with mid-senior level of experience in the food industry.

The first 2-days (May 20-21, 2019) will be a workshop. The next day (May 22, 2019) will be a Cross-Cultural Food Entrepreneurship Expo. Here, panel discussions will take place among U.S. and Indian food experts, food bloggers will share their opinions, and all participants will be involved in a cook-out session. This is a chance for participants to get innovative and showcase their culture through food.

This program is spread across 3 days and comprises 2 parts:
